Career and Technical Education (CTE) at Garfield County School Of Innovation goes far beyond vocational training. Our CTE programs are rigorous, industry-aligned pathways that prepare students for high-wage, high-demand careers — while also building the academic foundation needed for college and lifelong learning.
Students earn industry-recognized credentials alongside their high school diploma, graduate with a competitive edge in the job market, and have clear pathways into registered apprenticeships, community college programs, and four-year universities.
CMC works with all public high schools in its tax district. Upon approval of the charter, GCSI intends to formalize a partnership with Colorado Mountain College for concurrent enrollment and career & technical education opportunities.

Advanced Robotics Pathway
Partnered with Community College Partner
An experiential learning program with specialized training in robotics and automation topics such as automated control systems, manufacturing, electrical principles, and robotic programming.
The multidisciplinary curriculum provides students with the diverse skill set required to install, calibrate, modify, troubleshoot, repair, program, and maintain automated systems and industrial robots. Students can continue in the program to earn their AAS degree in Robotics and Automation through our community college partner.
Culinary Arts, Hospitality, Tourism and Resort Management
Partnered with Community College Partner
A hands-on program that prepares students for dynamic careers across the culinary, hospitality, tourism, and resort management industries — one of the largest and fastest-growing employment sectors in Colorado and beyond.
Students train in a fully equipped commercial kitchen and hospitality lab, mastering professional cooking techniques, baking and pastry arts, food safety, front-of-house operations, guest services, event planning, and resort management fundamentals. Graduates are ready to enter the workforce immediately or continue toward an AAS in Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management through our community college partner.
Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing
Partnered with Community College Partner
CAD/CAM design, CNC machining, welding, and fabrication skills tied to regional manufacturing and energy sector employers — building the engineers and makers Garfield County's economy needs.
Students gain hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and software, from 3D modeling and precision machining to structural welding and quality control. The pathway aligns with regional employer needs and opens doors to apprenticeships, technical certificates, and four-year engineering programs.
Aviation Pathway
Partnered with Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC)
High school students explore and prepare for careers in the aviation industry through ground school instruction, flight simulators, and concurrent enrollment credits toward CNCC's Aviation Technology AAS degree.
GCSI's Aviation pathway is built in partnership with Colorado Northwestern Community College — one of the most respected aviation programs in the nation with over 50 years of flight training experience. Students earn concurrent enrollment credits toward CNCC's FAA Part 141 certified program, with pathways to Private Pilot, Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot, and Flight Instructor certifications.
Business and Entrepreneurship

Marketing, finance, project management, and startup fundamentals — building the business acumen students need to lead organizations, launch ventures, or manage operations in any industry.
Students develop real-world business skills through project-based learning, including market research, financial planning, pitch competitions, and business plan development. The pathway connects directly to concurrent enrollment business courses and regional entrepreneurship networks.
Natural Resources and Energy
Partnered with Community College Partner
Environmental science, energy systems, and natural resource management — reflecting the industries that define Garfield County's economy and the stewardship values of our community.
Students explore renewable and traditional energy systems, land and water resource management, environmental monitoring, and sustainability practices. The pathway prepares graduates for careers with energy companies, conservation organizations, and government agencies across the Western Slope.
